Computers are becoming essential to the educational experience in this generation. It relates to this generations style of learning because there are so many different things that a teacher can do and teach through a computer. For example, as in chapter one, teachers can use the computer as a "personal teacher" for each individual student. Teachers can use tutorials to cover specific topic. Tutorials can either be used as a reinforcer or to actually teach the student the material from the beginning. I agree with this partially. I agree with the use of computers as reinforcements of materials but that they shouldn't be used in replacement of a teacher. The teacher should be the main person 'dishing' out the knowledge to the students, while using the computer as a backup.
How you think you will use computers in your classroom. Use the textbook (Ch 1) to get ideas. What do you hope to learn in this class to help you achieve these goals?

I think that I will use computers in my classrooms. I will use the computer and its technology as a way to reinforce the material that I teach. I think it is a problem when teachers use the computer as a way to teach the material to students. It should be used to make sure that the student understood what was already taught by the teacher.
Anything you would like to share/discuss with your classmates, especially if it applies to this course, technology in general, or your future career.
I would just like to share that I love PowerPoint. It's weird I know but its probably my favorite program on my computer. I love having projects in which I have to make a presentation. I can also see that in my future career as a teacher I will be using a lot of PowerPoint's to get things across to my students. I think PowerPoint presents information in an easy to read and a way to easily understand, instead of just throwing out information to students.
I'm glad that you made the point that while technology is useful in the classroom it should not replace the teacher! That is something that I feel very strongly about. I also love the fact that you admitted that you loved powerpoint. It is one of my favorite programs to use also and I feel like it is a very useful technology tool...and its fun to make animated presentations without words! Try it, its fun!
