Blog Journal #2 Posting

I have used MS Word in almost every class I have ever had since about the sixth grade. I've used it for so many different things. I was the junior and senior class president in my high school, so I had to use MS Word really often. I used Word to create my campaign flyers, typing up the notes for each class meeting and when I was writing up agendas, letters and proposals for different things. I have used MS Word a lot in writing papers in my different classes. Another way I utilize Word is when I have notes for classes. I will either type notes that I have already written down or just take my computer to class and type notes.

In Chapter Nine it posts an example of creating a newspaper in MS Word. I think that have students use Word to create a newspaper has many benefits. This will teach the students many different skills. This will teach the students how to use Word in ways beyond just typing papers. Not only that but students will learn to have fun in creating an assignment. Creating a newspaper is a lot more fun than writing a paper on a subject. I think that MS Word has so many different opportunities for students to learn new ways and new things to do, teaching them through using school knowledge, has a number of different benefits. Benefits ranging from making the subject material enjoyable and having fun with MS Word.

I have recently decided in changing my major. I will be changing from elementary education to visual disabilities. Since I will be focusing on teaching the vision impaired, MS Word will not be as much as an important tool for me in my classroom. The main use of Word in my career will be contact with parents. I will use Word to create things such as news letters and emails, so the parents of my children that I teach will always know what is going on in the classroom and with their individual child.

  1. Welcome to the club of teaching students with special needs! Its a fun and exciting opportunity! I liked the way you talked about using word for more than just writing papers! I also didn't realize all of the different ways that word can be useful for more than just writing papers!
